Dear Mathematics Educators,

End of term is here! And there is plenty to get excited about! Just see below for events for both teachers and students in term 3.

  • Girls in STEM – limited spaced remain

  • Free virtual learning sessions – open to all teachers across Victoria

  • Annual conference – early bird rate closes soon!

We are also planning a new professional learning event in collaboration with Independent Schools Victoria (ISV). This will be held on Friday 13th September, and will be for primary and secondary maths teachers. The day will be themed: New Frontiers of Learning, and will challenge us to think about how we need to prepare for mathematics education in coming years. Pencil it in, we will open registrations in term 3.

Check out the great news about Monash University staff receiving an ARC Linkage to enhance the mathematics outcomes of Australian students. Congratulations!

Enjoy your well-deserved break!

Exploring mathematical sequences of connected, cumulative and challenging tasks

Congratulations to Emeritus Professor Peter Sullivan, Professor Janette Bobis, Dr Ann Downton, Dr Sharyn Livy & Dr James Russo on receiving an ARC Linkage to enhance the mathematics outcomes of Australian students. The project will look into new teaching approaches that utilise sequences of cognitively challenging tasks, to build connections between key mathematical ideas whilst developing depth, flexibility and the transfer of knowledge.
